Dirt and Deeds in Mississippi Film Screening
Saturday, April 22. 3:00 p.m. The Auburn Avenue Research Library, in recognition of Earth Day (2017), will host a screening of Dirt and Deeds in Mississippi. This extraordinary film reveals the captivating story of a Delta community called Mileston, in which sharecropping families gained control of 10,000 acres of some of the best land in the state as a result of a radical New Deal era experiment in the 1930’s; and as landowners, became instrumental leaders in the Civil Rights Movement.

Preschool Storytime

Join us for an hour of interactive stories, songs, rhymes, games, and accompanying activities perfect for preschoolers. The early literacy practices featured each week help build the foundation for a lifelong love of learning. Toddlers Once Upon A Time Storytime
Wednesdays. 10:15 a.m. Do you have children ages 3 and under? We have a storytime just for you! Each Wednesday, toddlers and their caregivers enjoy an hour play-based program featuring developmentally appropriate stories, songs, rhymes, and activities that will keep toddlers moving while introducing them to the storytime experience. Important language development happens by age three, so the selected activities are perfect for building language, growing vocabulary, and discovering the magical world of books. Parents and caregivers will hear and sing rhymes and songs perfect for storytime or anytime, learn about early literacy practices for toddlers, and meet other parents and caregivers.
